Movies in the Park- Stephen King’s It
As the summer winds down, why not chill out with Ijams Nature Center and Central Cinema as we present our Movies in the Park series. Pack up your favorite blanket and join us on the lawn for our movie night. It is the best way to start your weekend off right! On August 18, we will be showcasing the the original version of Stephen King’s IT!
In addition to the film, we’re having a Stephen King filmmaking competition! We want all of you Knoxville filmmakers to take a Stephen King story and create a 30 second commercial or 1 minute trailer out of it. For example, you could make a commercial for Cujo’s dog treats, or one to stay a night at The Overlook Hotel. If you don’t want to make a commercial, you can take your favorite King story that hasn’t had a film adaptation and make a trailer for your version.
This contest is free to enter, but you must email firstname.lastname@example.org to say that you are participating, and we will give you all of the details on when the films are due and how we would like to accept them. Since the film originally aired on TV, it has already been designed with breaks in mind; so we’re going to insert what you create into the film!
Movies will begin once it gets dark. Doors open at 7pm. Food trucks and beer garden will be on hand with food and beverages available for purchase.
The fee for this program is $5 per person or $15 per family. Tickets are available through Eventbrite or at the door.
The profits from this and all of the other Movies in the Park events benefit Ijams Nature Center and Central Cinema. If you love these events and want more like them in Knoxville, please check out the fundraiser that will help them create their theater! https://www.gofundme.com/centralcinemaknox
