Stories from Cemeteries of the Smokies
Have you been to Abrams Creek, Cades Cove, Tremont or Elkmont? Chances are you’ve driven or hiked through at least one of these sections of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. But did you ever wander through one of the cemeteries and wonder about the people who lived and died there?
“Cemeteries of the Smokies,” by Blount County native Dr. Gail Palmer, is an exhaustive guide to more than 150 cemeteries located throughout the park, in Tennessee and North Carolina, with info on directions, histories, kinship links, epitaphs, and more. Sponsored by the library in conjunction with Blount County Friends of the Library and Southland Books, hot-off-the-press copies will be available for purchase at Palmer’s storytelling event for $29.95. Published by the Great Smoky Mountains Association, all purchases benefit the park.
