This easy and fun kids cooking activity brings the fun of winter play indoors. This healthy snack features fresh bananas, a yogurt flavor of your choice and a smidge of chocolate to round it out. Your kids will love decorating their own frozen snowman and of course eating their yummy creations!
2 (4 snowmen total)
- 1 medium to large banana
- 1 individual serving yogurt cup in any flavor (vanilla, peach or anything with a light color will work best)
- 1 Tbsp. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 press and seal sandwich bag
Slice off the ends of the banana and eat them. Cut the remaining banana into 12 equal slices.
Each person should have their own plate. On the plate, arrange the bananas into the shape of a snowman. Use the smaller slices for the head. Each plate will have a total of 2 snowmen.
Once the bananas are arranged, use a spoon to cover the slices in yogurt. Place 1 dollop on top of each slice and carefully spread it down over the sides. As you work, try to keep the circular shape of the banana slices.
After adding the yogurt, place the plates in the freezer for 1 hour or until the yogurt is set.
Just before removing the plates from the freezer, place 1 tablespoon of semi-sweet chocolate chips into the corner of a sandwich sized press and seal bag. Place the bag in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. ( I don’t usually like to microwave in plastic, but it is for a very short time) Then, cut a very small piece off the corner of the bag, so you will be able to squeeze out a small stream of chocolate.
Using the chocolate bag, draw a face and buttons on your snowman. The chocolate will harden as soon as it touches the frozen yogurt. Then, draw the arms and hat directly onto the plate.
Now, admire your beautiful work of art, eat and enjoy! Happy cooking!
